Iuris Codex terms of service

IURIS-PUB-2026-10-08-B

Version 1. This version takes effect when it is first published. The pilot with 20 lawyers uses TestFlight. Apple’s standard licence has been selected for App Store distribution. Sales and subscription clauses apply only to a commercial offer actually made available; they do not create billing for the pilot.

1 Company and agreement

This service agreement is between you and Services Technologiques Iuris inc., the operating name of 9571-7138 Québec inc. Business address: 713, boulevard Saint-Joseph, Roberval (Québec) G8H 2L3, Canada. Questions and claims concerning the application may be addressed to admin@iuris.ca. The agreement covers the reference and access services associated with Iuris Codex, according to the offer or pilot terms presented to you. Phone: +1 418 276-9848.

The terms of your offer specify the included functions, access period and, where applicable, price. A separate institutional agreement may govern your organization’s order. It does not impose a personal payment obligation that has not been presented to you and that you have not accepted. Mandatory rules of law prevail over any contrary provision.

2 Applicable licence and use

For an App Store version, Apple’s standard licence governs use of the application. The pilot uses TestFlight and the beta terms for that channel. These terms concern the Company’s services without replacing those agreements or reducing your non-waivable statutory rights. Links to the Apple texts appear at the end of these terms.

You must not compromise the security of the service, use another person’s account or unlawfully circumvent the limits of an access entitlement. These restrictions do not remove statutory exceptions or your rights to criticize, conduct lawful research or seek a remedy.

3 Scope of reference content

Iuris Codex facilitates consultation of legal texts and organization of notes. Its content provides general information. Use, a purchase or an exchange with support does not, in itself, create a professional mandate or a lawyer-client relationship. Support answers product questions; it does not replace individualized legal advice.

The displayed texts must be checked against official sources for the issue and date in question. In the event of a discrepancy, the text of the applicable official source is authoritative. The consolidation date, the date an amendment comes into force and the download date may differ. A historical version corresponds to the available files; it does not guarantee coverage of every change on every date. Enhancements and search results help guide consultation.

The corpus already on the device can be consulted offline. CanLII, historical-version downloads and certain activation or validation operations require a connection. The available functions and their limits are those of the offer presented before purchase; a function announced as forthcoming forms part of the offer only if it is expressly included.

4 Ownership and personal local notes

The Company retains its rights in the software, its interface and its original contributions. These rights do not create exclusivity over the legislative texts reproduced. Third-party documents remain subject to the rights and terms of their source, as well as statutory exceptions.

You retain all rights in your notes. This agreement grants the Company no licence to publish or commercialize them or to use them to train a model. Local storage and backup limitations are described in the privacy policy. Check your copies before deleting the application, changing devices or erasing data.

You remain responsible for the use of information you choose to enter, share or send to support, including your duties of confidentiality and professional secrecy. This rule is not a general prohibition on keeping professional notes in the local vault.

5 Account and institutional licence

Institutional access may require Sign in with Apple and a code provided for the organization concerned. Use your own sign-in methods and only the entitlements assigned to you. The number of devices, authorized period and revalidation conditions depend on the agreement and entitlement granted. Access may end when that entitlement expires or is validly withdrawn.

If you have an existing App Store subscription, activating institutional access does not cancel it. To stop this billing, use Apple’s subscription management process. Releasing a device does not delete the account or cancel a subscription.

6 Purchase and renewal

Before confirmation, the purchase process displays the functions, price and currency, billing period, renewal terms and, for a promotion, its duration and the price that will follow. This information, together with the applicable taxes displayed in the process, forms part of your offer.

An App Store purchase is billed by Apple through your Apple account. If the offer provides for automatic renewal, it takes place at the displayed interval and price unless you turn it off through the applicable process. Price changes, the end of free periods and required notices are handled in accordance with the law and the purchase channel.

You can manage or cancel an Apple-billed subscription in your Apple account settings, using Apple’s process. The information displayed when cancelling identifies when access ends. An institutional offer managed by the Company is governed by its separate agreement; write to admin@iuris.ca to identify the appropriate contact.

Restoring a purchase uses the associated Apple account and remains subject to the validity of that purchase. To request a refund for an Apple purchase, use Apple’s refund request process. This procedure does not reduce any statutory rights to a refund, cancellation or remedy.

7 Account closure and service access

You can request deletion of your account at admin@iuris.ca under the privacy policy. Deletion may end access linked to the account. It does not, by itself, cancel Apple billing or automatically erase all local or backup copies. Its effects and any records retained for a legal reason must be explained to you before confirmation.

We may suspend access when it has expired, has been revoked in accordance with its agreement, is used without authorization, or intervention is necessary to protect the service. We limit the intervention to what is justified and, except in an emergency or where prohibited by law, inform you of the reason and how to have the situation reviewed. A technical interruption does not, by itself, terminate your agreement.

8 Support, warranties and claims

The Company provides application support at admin@iuris.ca and handles claims concerning its services. Statutory warranty obligations and remedies remain applicable. Apple’s own roles depend on the licence agreement and distribution channel that actually apply.

The content may contain an error and the service may experience an interruption. These limitations do not exclude legal warranties or mandatory liabilities. No clause limits liability where prohibited by law, including for intentional or gross fault, or bodily or moral injury. These terms impose neither mandatory arbitration nor a waiver of class actions.

9 Changes and governing law

We identify versions of the terms and proposed changes. A change does not apply retroactively to an acquired right. Where a contractual amendment requires notice, acceptance or an option to refuse or cancel, we comply with those requirements. Publication alone does not authorize us to freely alter an essential element of a fixed-term commitment.

The laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there govern the agreement, subject to the mandatory protections available to you, including in your province or territory of residence. You retain access to the competent authorities and courts. If a provision is unenforceable, the others remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.
